Waiting.

I love family stories.  I love seeing how people create their families.  I love that there are so many options in which to do so.  And love that no matter how different each family begins the end result is much the same.  I have been blessed enough to be part of many friends journeys in becoming a family, some have been more heartbreaking than others.  Some have started out so incredibly sad but ended so joyously.  BRian and I have our stories on how family went form two to four....it is personal to us it is part of what makes us 4Jagers:)

Sometimes your own friends become part of your family though if you are ever so blessed.  We are blessed with some of these friends.  Its when the word friend doesn't seem to cut it anymore that you know you have made this crossover.  When you have walked alongside each other through enough good and bad that you seem to know more of the story than you don't.

Our friends Sarah and Justin are like that.  On this old rag of a blog I usually refer to them as The Rah and The Brewer.  I have explained before what these guys mean to us but you should know they are the gift that keeps on giving and I am always praying that we bless them even half as much as they bless us.

Well the pair of them are in the process of starting their own family.  It has been an amazing thing to watch.  It has been an amazing thing to be apart of and if you ask me there are not two people more suited for this ride.  Justin and Sarah are in the process of adopting a tiny person from Bulgaria.  They have put in so much work already.  They have spent countless hours pouring of paperwork and documents to prepare themselves and this tiny person for what is to come. Yet they still wait.  The waiting to me seems like the hardest part.  Most of the world does not see them as parent yet.  I mean there is no visible baby. There is no tantrum ridden toddler thrashing about.  But I can assure you that if you took the time to talk with them about their family you would know that they have a child that is already a very big part of not only their hearts but their homes as well.  And so has this child become the same for us.

Sarah and Justin have lovingly dubbed their tiny person Bubs while we wait to see who they are to bring home.  My children are well aware of Bubs and although they are a bit confused that this is taking so long. Grace is very concerned that they are not as ready as they should be and Elliot is hoping for a  boy.  They must ask about Bubs at least twice a week if not more and I think its because to them it's already happened.  Bubs is already real and here and alive and part of their hearts.  And in my opinion that is how it should be.

We so quickly forget sometimes that becoming a family isn't as simple as making the decision and  taking care of some business to coem out with the end result of a trip to the hospital to bring a pink or blue bundle into the world.  There are many ways and sometimes many struggle in getting to the end result.

At Christmas I decided I was going to make a quilt for Bubs.  Now from the beginning I have thought Bubs to be a boy.  I had a dream about him...it was real....judge on judgers.  No one really knows yet:)  But the quilt I made ended up looking pretty girly.  So hopefully his favorite color is pink.  The reason I wanted to sew the quilt was because we too are so very excited, so very much anticipating his/her arrival and it felt good to create something with those thoughts in mind.

It still needs two more strips and the binding.

I chose a scrapped pinwheel pattern.  Not all of the fabrics match separately but together they fit perfectly.   That is how a family works too.......

We Love You Bubs And We Can't Wait Until You Come Home!

Happy Birthday Rahsta Style.

IMG_0389

Happy Birthday to the Best Friend a girl could have.

The last of us to turn 30.

Let me tell you a few things about the Rah.

Number 1 - If you need a cheerleader she's your girl. For anything she will literally cheer you on for any life moment big or small.

Number 2 - She's loyal. She is always there. Ain't no one going to be saying or doing anything negative about or to her friends or family. And she is always there when you need her.

Number 3 - She loves my kids. Even now she is upstairs playing lego rock band on her Birthday. She has thoroughly convinced my children that sometimes she comes over just to see them. Oh and did I forget to mention she took my kids for an entire week during her spring break so that I could go to Costa Rica. She's that awesome.

Numero Quatro - She's down for anything. I can mention I want to do this or this is on my bucket list and she is already to make it happen.

Five - She's in the process of adopting a "kid" as the kids refer to her new addition. Every time they see her which is often they ask her if she got her "kid" yet as if she keeps him/her under the stairs when she goes out. This sweet thing is in for a treat as it will be joining the greatest little family in the world. She is going to be a great mom...more prepared and ready than anyone I know! I mean really!

Six - She will call me or anyone on their crap. If I say something ridiculous she calls me on it, which is often:)

Number Seven - She invented the best friend booty call. This is genius! Anytime one of us is having a bad day or just needs to talk they can call the other and ask for a Margarita and at least an hour of girl talk. Sometimes we can leave in 10 minutes sometimes we leave after my kiddos are in bed but it happens nonetheless and it makes us happy. The person who calls the get together pays for the outing.

Ocho - She is really just the best ever PERIOD!

Happy birthday Rah you are the best friend a girl can have. We all love you over here. We were blessed to share this last year with you and are excited to share the next!!

Happy 30th Birthday Mr. Husband!

Photobucket
The love of my life turned 30 years old yesterday. I sent him a text that said I am so glad you were born! It was the only thing I could think of saying. Its seems so simple to say but really I can't imagine if his mom had not birthed a 11lb 12oz baby boy 30 years ago...by the way my MIL is a rockstar you should tell her that. My life would not be the same without him.

As you know we had a surprise party a little over a week ago but I think it is important to celebrate on your real birthday as well or it seems as it was forgotten so we celebrated with these two last night. Because birthdays should be celebrated with friends.

Again the double date was a complete surprise because I didn't want him to tell me not to go to the trouble. I told him after dinner there would be a babysitter coming in an hour. When the babysitter got here I drove to the Bajemas and told him we were picking them up. I am pretty sure that Justin and BJ could talk for hours and never get bored.

I love my 30year old man. He's pretty much the best husband in the world. Everything about him makes me want to be better. The way he treats people the way he responds to others, the way he advocates for and loves his children, the way he tells me I am "his best" everyday, the way he gives of himself over and over again without expecting anything in return. He's a good man the kind of man you pray for, I know I am blessed.

I watched him help a random stranger on a ferry boat a month ago with her phone. He simply overheard her telling her husband that her service was crappy. He turned around and said is it a Verizon phone can I help you with it. The woman was thrilled and surprised by his willingness to help. I watched him genuinely go out of his way to help her and he enjoyed it..it was beyond. I am sure this seems like a simple thing, but I thought it was neat in fact I was darn right proud to be that mans wife right at that moment. Later on we were walking back to the ferry and we heard people yelling," Hey Brian." It was the couple from the boat yelling from way up on top of a balcony of a building...hahaha we laughed so hard, it was totally random.

I realize more and more all the time how important it is to keep your eyes open for the little things that make you love your spouse. That way there are constant reminders...it keeps things fresh. God is so good to give us small things to delight in every day.

Not sure what this face is...but it makes me laugh.

Happy birthday babe, you are the love of my life and I am so glad you were born!! Three fist pumps for 30 more:)

My Girl Rah

Photobucket
My Girl Rah and I are pretty tight. Last week she joined me and turned the infamous age of 29. She asked me the day before if I thought 29 was really as good as it gets and I told her not for us:)

Rah is the kind of friend you need...you call her to vent and her classic response is, "Its going to turn out great." I love it! She is a constant encouragement to those around her and I know I am not the only one to benefit from her cheery spirit. Something else I love about my girl Rah is that she stands up for things she believes in and there is no getting her to back down. This is something that you would not expect from her sugar sweet demeanor, but its true. As a friend she calls you on crap...shes doesn't let you get away with being a jerk or having a bad attitude and that is something I could not live without. Honesty rules!
She is the kind of friend you can sit at a table with for hours and talk about 30 different subjects and laugh tell you cry and cry tell you laugh and do it all over again...shes the best!

So we celebrated (the only way I k now how) last week with a quiet outside meal for four the other two being our husbands. While our husbands talked about their lastest inventions (we love our geeky husbands..because geeks are cute) we sat at the end of my parents dock in the dark and fed the fish and talked about our upcoming stardom on our voyage to 30. Its going to be a big year I just know it:) Sarah also took her inaugural trip down the zipline, at trip that she has been avoiding but that new found bravery in 29 gave her the push she needed and she rocked it!

I am so glad that Brian and I have Sarah and Justin. They are the kind of friends that you know will be your friends until the end. They bless us with their presence in our home at least 2 if not 3 times a week. They steal our kids so they can go see the latest animated movies. Sarah steals my kids and does science experiments and art projects. There really is no question why my kids call them Auntie and Uncle. They are a blessing.

So heres a little shout to my girl Rah!! Happy Birthday my Friend!! You are the best ever.....no jokin!

By the way I changed the song on the blog just for you Rah....I may lose readers....all complaints will be directed to you!

Something to Look Forward To.....

Cabin Fever Baby!! Last year we started a new tradition in which we would go away for a weekend with these two people...
Photobucket
And enjoy this view.....
Photobucket
And do absolutely nothing!! WooHoo. Nothing does include reading, saunaing, eating, puzzling, playing games, etc. But you don't do anything you don't want to do. And there is no TV, cell phones, or computers. You need not pack anything other than comfy clothes and pajamas:) Sounds wonderful to me:)
So Cabin Fever here we come the countdown is on only 6 more sleeps.
